Translunar Book Two and a New Series
3 months ago – Sun, Jan 11, 2026 at 01:59:40 PM

Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed TRANSLUNAR: Book One. Magenta and I are deep into work on Book Two — expanding the story and world, and putting our characters through the ringer. I’ll share progress on that later this winter.

For now, I wanted to share something brand new.

This Tuesday, January 13th, I’ll be launching a Kickstarter for DREAM FEEDS, the next series under This Is It, the small press I created for these comics.

DREAM FEEDS is a grounded sci-fi story about a new form of social media that allows people to record and sell their dreams — and what happens when the boundary between private life and public consumption breaks down. It’s a story I’ve been developing for years, and I’m excited to finally put it in readers’ hands. (Click here for the early notification on the campaign)

I’m collaborating with artist Dalts Cara, who has approached every page like a piece of fine art — working in pencil, brush, and ink with incredible care and intention. Watching him build these pages has been a real pleasure.

Below are a few images from Dalts’ drafting table, and here's a sneak peek at the teaser ahead of its official release. If you enjoyed TRANSLUNAR, I think this book will resonate with you too. It lives in a darker, more intimate register, but it comes from the same place — me.

Thank you for reading, supporting, and helping make these books possible. I’m excited to share more soon.

Sincerely,
Ben Nabors

TRANSLUNAR Books Are En Route
5 months ago – Mon, Nov 10, 2025 at 01:32:39 PM

Dear Backers,

This weekend I personally packed and mailed more packages than I’ve ever packed and mailed in my entire life. Exciting! Tedious! Much harder than I imagined! But I did it, and it was deeply gratifying to send all those beautiful books out into the world. You should be receiving yours within a matter of days.

For those of you who haven’t completed the address survey — you know who you are — here’s a gentle reminder to click the link in the BackerKit email.

The final Paul Pope variant cover (shown above) shipped with this batch, and I met with Pope last week to retrieve his signed sketch. He generously donated the drawing as a giveaway for someone who backed the Pope Variant Tier or higher. The winner of the lottery was Mr. Paul Greenhouse. Another Paul!?! What are the odds? Actually, quite low: just a 1.64% chance, based on the number of eligible backers. The drawing was run through Random.org, which generates true randomness from tiny variations in atmospheric noise — radio static caused by lightning discharges and other natural phenomena — ensuring a physically sourced, non-deterministic result. Thank you to Dr. Mads Haahr for creating something that’s algorithmically unpredictable. And congratulations, Paul!

I’m thrilled that you’ll soon have this book in your hands. May you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed making it. And speaking of we, Magenta and I have been hard at work on TRANSLUNAR Book Two. Below is a sneak peek: the first 19 pages in thumbnail form, offering a glimpse of the story to come.

Thanks again for supporting this debut title from an independent publisher. We have exciting news coming soon with the announcement of THIS IS IT’s second comic series, but that’s for another update. For now, just know there’s much more ahead.

Sincerely,
Ben Nabors
